An SEO jokes that AI answers are costing everyone traffic

A one post summary of the day's news, with no data behind it and nothing for you to do.

An SEO account called Cyrus SEO posted a short, sarcastic summary of the day's news. The post listed three things in a row. Reddit stock is down because of AI answers. Google stock is down because of AI answers. Your web traffic is down because of AI answers.

The sign off was the point of the whole thing.

There is no data here

That is the entire post. No numbers, no study, no screenshot of a traffic chart. It is one person's dig at the fact that AI answers, the summaries Google and other tools write at the top of a results page instead of sending you to a website, are being blamed for very different problems on the same day.

So treat it as a joke that lands, not as evidence. Nobody in this post is claiming to have measured anything. If you want to know whether AI answers are taking traffic from your own site, the post will not tell you, and neither will anybody else's one liner.

What to actually do

Check your own numbers instead of the mood. Open Google Search Console, click Performance, set the date range to the last 6 months and compare clicks to the same period a year ago. That is your site, not a headline about Reddit.

If clicks are down, it still may not be AI answers. Rankings have been swinging around for weeks with no confirmed update, and several rank tracking tools have been fixing bad data, so a drop you see in a third party tool is not always a drop that happened. Search Console is the one that counts.

And keep the scale in mind. We covered separately that AI tools send under 1% of the traffic Google does, which is a different thing from AI answers inside Google results. The panic is louder than the measurement right now. Do nothing differently based on this post.
