Publishing 200 pages a day tends to catch up with sites
Older domains can hold up for a while, but two well known SEOs say bulk AI pages still land badly.
A site publishing 200 articles a day is heading for a drop, according to Gagan Ghotra, who looked at the numbers and said the pace is just too much. The site has just over 23,000 pages live and put out another 200 in a single day.
Ghotra's point is about timing, not outcome. The domain is older and already has some authority (a track record with Google that helps its pages rank), so the fall does not arrive right away. He estimates that authority pushes the cliff out to roughly the 8 to 12 month mark from the start of heavy scaling, rather than the 4 to 6 months he would otherwise expect.
The setup is not the problem
Lily Ray made a related point about pages generated in bulk. She said the issue is never the machinery that makes the pages, it is what those pages actually are, and that it is unlikely the content is helping users. That distinction matters. Building pages from a template or with AI help is not automatically the thing Google objects to. Pages that answer nothing, or that repeat each other with a word swapped, are.
Ray also says she is putting together a presentation on AI content case studies that ranked well at first and then tanked several months later. She noted how many of those sites described their work as unique content, or talked about E-E-A-T (Google's shorthand for experience, expertise, authoritativeness and trust), or proprietary data, and that the labels did not save them.
What to do
This is two SEOs reading one site, not a Google announcement, so treat the 8 to 12 month figure as an estimate. If you are adding pages fast, pick five at random and read them as a customer. If any of them do not answer a real question better than what is already ranking, stop publishing that type of page and fix or delete the ones you have.
The problem is never the programmatic setup, it鈥檚 what the programmatic setup is generating.
authority is going to push that cliff to perhaps like 8 to 12 months mark I guess
