Rankings jumped Saturday, no update announced

One SEO says Google quietly stopped showing listicles that rank the publisher first in AI answers, while leaving them in the normal results so nobody notices. Plus rankings moved over the weekend.

Why your traffic moved

Rankings moved around on Saturday with no update announced

Who this affects: Anyone who watches their Google rankings day to day.

What to do
  • Do nothing yet, unconfirmed movement often reverses within days.
  • Our take: note the date, compare traffic again next week.

One SEO says Google stopped using "best of" lists that rank the publisher's own product first in AI Overviews (the AI written answer at the top of results) during October. Florian S. Kluge says the normal blue link rankings for those pages did not move, and neutral lists kept their AI citations.
